187 Days To Go!

Our Story

We met in the most unexpected way—at work. What I didn’t know at the time was that Eric had noticed me for two years before ever saying a word. He started making himself more known, and eventually, he sent one of his friends to ask if I was single. That opened the door for us to start talking, and on February 14, 2024—our first date—we instantly clicked. From that day on, we were inseparable.
One of our favorite memories was from a trip to Maine. One evening, we took a walk to watch the sunset over the lake. That walk turned into one of the deepest conversations we’ve ever had. We opened up about our pasts, shared the “why” behind so many parts of who we are, and even had a little laugh as I went off on a tangent about how much car knowledge Eric had taught me since we’d been together. It was one of those moments that just felt sacred.
But our story began long before we met—because God was writing it all along.
When I was 17 years old, God told me to start praying for my future husband. I remember writing the date down and thinking it was kind of wild because He also told me I would be married by 21—and at the time, I had never even been in a relationship. Still, I held onto that word and that date.
Years later, Eric and I were having a deep conversation, and he shared the story of one of the most difficult and traumatic days of his life. When he told me the exact date, my heart stopped. It was the same day—two years earlier—that God had told me to pray for my future husband. That was the confirmation I had asked God for. In that moment, I knew Eric was the one. It was overwhelming, emotional, and absolutely undeniable.
When Eric proposed, he took me to Brasstown Bald—a place full of meaning for us, and one of our favorite spots to visit together. I thought we were just going to watch the sunset, like we normally did, and for a while, I convinced myself nothing was out of the ordinary. (Though I’ll admit, my detective instincts were definitely kicking in as the day went on!) But when the moment came, it was quiet, sweet, and just the two of us. And when Eric asked me to marry him, I felt so much joy. It was the beautiful realization that I get to spend forever with my best friend.
